My Students
My students are 5th graders in a bedroom community of Salt Lake City. They come from homes that vary in demographics. My students are eager to read and I have a limited amount of books to keep them and advance their learning ability. Without this grant I would have to use my own funds to pay for building my library.
Where would we be without your help?
As a school teacher, I left the classroom to pursue an Administration position. I left all of my teaching supplies to other teachers. Now I find myself back in the classroom and I need a Library.
My Project
At the end of the 2016-2017 school year I was leaving the classroom to take an Administrative position. Since I believed that I would not be returning, I gave away to other teachers thousands of dollars of books that I had acquired over the past years.
I am grateful that I am back in the classroom, but I am a veteran teacher starting over.
All my books and teaching materials have been given away. I need help to replenish my library so that the students are able to find something that they can connect with and become life long readers.
