Creating great art takes great tools. One never knows when the muse might strike and young artists need to have access to quality tools at their fingertips. As I continue to build our art program, it is clear that a few basic tools will help eliminate some roadblocks for our artists.
The K-12 students who will benefit from these resources are in an alternative school setting.
Providing smaller classes is just one of many ways we strive to help students achieve academic success. The down side of a smaller setting is, of course, a smaller building and a smaller budget. Students and staff work together in finding creative solutions to space and financial limitations.
My Project
With pre-cut paper, view catchers, and brayers, students will be able to get started immediately on their art without waiting for an adult to cut and distribute supplies. This will empower them to be in control over their own creative process. The view catchers will allow students to set up their own compositions. This will improve their drawing skills and their confidence in setting up and transferring their own compositions. Having access to their own supplies will help eliminate some of the logistical roadblocks they face in creating art.
Donations to this project will help students create without losing momentum in searching for supplies or waiting for permission to cut larger sheets of expensive paper.
The view catchers will provide easy, clear composition guidelines and will help students in framing what they see. In the larger metaphor of life, your generosity helps students reframe their own worldview in knowing that people they might not even know believe in the value of student art.
