Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As an elementary teacher for the past 7 years, I have seen my students face tremendous academic, health, and personal challenges at such a young age. My students are thoughtful and kind individuals and rely on me heavily to support them each day as they learn and grow. Their dedication to school has been tested in many ways, especially this year due to the pandemic, and yet they continue to persevere.
My school is a Title 1 school located in Elmhurst, the epicenter of COVID-19, where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which makes it even more challenging to ensure they have the resources needed to feel successful.
My Project
Please assist me in helping my students in their learning this fall. With the growing health concern of returning to a New York City classroom, we need a reliable laptop.
With the promise of blended learning on the horizon, NYC teachers need the ability to effectively shift between in-person and remotely.
This laptop will allow me to stream lessons, upload assignments, and share resources with my students when they are working remotely from home. Hosting small virtual groups to break down materials for my English Language Learners is crucial for their understanding. It's imperative to have a working camera and microphone in order to have these discussions.
