Help me give my students a visually engaging text to read that they can call their own while we are learning remotely.

My Students
I have a total of 30 students in my various reading intervention classes. They are a lively group who love to read. They are so good at having group discussions about books we have read, reading out loud "play style", analyzing complicated plot lines, and making predictions about characters' fates!
My students have struggled to become engaged with reading in the past, but we have recently discovered that they thrive when working with narratives told from perspectives that mirror their own lived experience.
My students themselves have complained that they "don't relate" to books that are typically read in school. My goal is to spend the year focusing on text that includes characters and plot lines that both engage and empower my students.
My Project
My students love graphic novels and stories that run parallel to the popular narrative. When I heard that Jason Reynolds was coming out with a graphic novel version of "Long Way Down," I knew I would teach it to my students. However, due to school budget cuts in New York State and Covid reopening restrictions, school will unexpectedly be taught remotely in my district until further notice.
Funding this project would give my students their own copies of the book we are reading, thus providing them with a more equitable remote learning experience and something to call their own.
For these students, having some agency and ownership on their own education in a time when so much has been taken away from them could make all the difference.
