This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Our students are economically and ethnically diverse. Our population consists of mostly Hispanic and Chinese backgrounds. We have a population of students from shelters as well as the surrounding projects.
The school includes students with special needs as well as ESL students in need of extra support.
As a community, we strive to keep a safe and secure environment for all our students from Pre-k through 5th grade. Thank you!
My Project
A large percentage of our students will be learning from home this year. We are doing all we can to make sure they have all the tools they need to be successful. A lot of students are using iPads at home but need a writing tool to complete most of their work. The stylus pens are crucial in helping students learn to write correctly while working remotely. Our reading and writing lessons require students to write on their own. In addition, we encourage our students to write for math and other subjects as well so stylus pens will help in all subjects.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
