This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a middle school in the Bronx. My classroom is rigorous and demanding. The students I teach come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicity, and have different abilities and experiences. However, the common connections my middle school students have are they are their work ethic, imagination and enthusiasm.
My students' ability to succeed come from their motivation and creativity.
Students know they will be challenged and pushed to succeed and need many various tools to make this success happen. Their artistic abilities are amazing; they love to showcase their talents, while producing projects and pieces that reveal their understanding and intelligence in new and creative ways.
My Project
As we start the new school year in a completely new way, we need technology to fully reach all students, both in school and virtually. Students in NYC schools were abruptly sent home in March with limited understanding of how remote learning works and with outdated technology.
A touch screen laptop will help give me the ability to annotate and model text for students, both virtually and in person.
As an ELA teacher, it is important to be able to model what good writing looks like - a touch screen laptop is essential for good teaching!
