Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher who loves to make sure my kids are always prepared for their day. My students love to learn and always try their best to stay focused during the day. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as typical. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and strive to give them the best of me.

My Project

Teaching and learning from home open up a whole new world to all of us.

My students depend on my ability to find and utilize remote resources, create assignments, and video chat with them.

This laptop will enable me to do all of that and more to support my students during this new technological experience. After navigating the various remote programs and learning platforms needed to educate all of my students, including my English Language Learners, I have come to realize that the device used can really make a difference. Having access to an up to date device will assist me in giving my students an amazing remote learning experience. The headphones will help with remote learning to ensure my students can hear me and I can hear them especially during our phonics lessons when hearing the appropriate sound is so important. Lastly the adaptor will help for our smart board both inside the classroom if we go back, and our projector if we are working remote.
