Remote Learning Science Lessons

My Students

I teach 8th graders in a suburban school in Queens, New York. I have 165 students that range from advanced students that take the Living Environment Regents course for high school credit, to general education classes that take General Science. In the general science classes, there are high performing students, English Language learners, and students with special needs that are in an ICT setting where there is a special education teacher that co-teaches with me to help all students achieve.

Together Everyone Achieves More!

Since this pandemic began, it has become increasingly difficult to teach science. We all know that science is better learned from hands-on activities so students can explore phenomenon through experimentation. The tools I use to do plan activities may not be easily available in my students' homes.

My Project

The Teachers Pay Teachers Website will help me find lesson plans and online resources that other teachers have successfully implemented in the classroom and throughout remote learning. A $200.00 gift card will allow me access to interactive science sites, new science curriculum, printable resources, and much more!

The uncertainty of not knowing whether we will return back to school in September means creating and revising all new lessons in science.

Lessons will have to include materials readily available at home since they will not have access to the materials normally found in the science classroom.

Since I collaborate with two other science teachers in the same grade, having access to lesson plans will not only be beneficial to my students but for the whole grade. If we return to school, we can still access lesson plans that will help us shift to the new Science Standards with innovative ideas and resources.
