My 27 fourth grade students are learning remotely using many, many online platforms. They are highly motivated and creative. They are also outgoing and funny, and really enjoy interacting with each other. They are a joy to teach!
We are engaging in live Morning Meetings every morning, practicing crucial skills and concepts through live Small Group sessions, and asking and answering questions during virtual office hours.
Students are completing daily assignments using Google Classroom, EdPuzzle, and many other platforms. We are making the best of remote learning each day!
My Project
My school, my colleagues, and most importantly my 27 students are all doing their best with remote learning. We are trying to maintain a positive and solutions focused attitude with every obstacle that comes our way! Until now I have been using one of the student computers from our classroom laptop cart. I am so thankful we have these resources, however, they are aging and the continuous use is placing a strain on the computer. It is a struggle to keep up with the demands of remote learning as my "computer" has started to become more unreliable. Each day I am asking the computer's processor to run multiple apps and programs at once so I can teach best, and now it has slowed down considerably. The computer has started lagging often and crashing periodically, and it is creating an obstacle for me in connecting with my students. From time to time, my mic fails, and the hard drive is filling up with all the numerous downloads I need to do my job. It can be extremely frustrating!
A new computer will help me by allowing me to more smoothly interact with my students, keep up with classwork and provide feedback, and be able to record more lessons that I can share with my students and the other 4th graders!
With remote learning now continuing through the end of the school year, I am looking forward to delivering the best instruction and daily interaction possible for my students. They are persisting through these challenging times and I would like to support them from a more dependable computer!
