This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With schools closed in many countries due to the current pandemic, teachers and parents alike are navigating the new reality of educating students from home. The sudden shift to virtual learning places burdens not just with the teachers, special educators, and related service providers like me, but mostly on children with disabilities and their families. However, as an educator, I am passionate about helping my students and their families navigate the use of technology and eventually help them become comfortable in the online environment.
My students participate with me at least once a week via Zoom.
We work on their targeted IEP goals using hard and soft materials/resources. In addition, I also assign work and activities to my students via Seesaw and/or send them worksheets in PDF to reinforce continued learning and generalized the skills they have learned at home. Despite the hurdles, I am beyond grateful to witness my students' engagement and participation as well as witness the families' support.
My Project
As an educator, I need dependable equipment to deliver remote learning experience with my students. Presenting information in compelling ways is even more important when you're not able to be face-to-face with your students.
A reliable laptop and noise-canceling headphones will make a huge difference to stay organized and present information to my students during remote learning.
It will help me reduce and increase productivity in noisy work environments, help boost my concentration as I work virtually, and last but not the least, enjoy my conversations with them and their families.
