Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They live in a neighborhood in which there is high poverty. Many of our students live in a shelter, with a foster parent or in public housing projects. Their parents may not have the economic resources to cater to their every need; this includes school supplies. The students that I specifically serve are students with disabilities or considered at-risk, which in many cases are behind academically and require explicit instruction to generalize and maintain newly taught concepts.
Around 25% of the school population are students with disabilities.
They need our support and encouragement.
My Project
I am requesting funds to purchase interactive activities via Teachers Pay Teachers. In the middle of the COVID pandemic, our students were forced to engage in remote learning overnight. They had to learn new systems. Teachers like me had to be creative and quickly educate ourselves on how to engage and teach our students via online platforms and teacher created activities.
It was very challenging and I know that activities from Teachers Pay Teachers can help enhance the literacy and math skills for our students in a fun, engaging way.
