Help me give my students an opportunity to go back in time by visiting the Titanic through the eyes of a child or connecting to a character who has lost her parents in The Secret Garden.

My Project
I am a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teacher who has the pleasure of teaching students who struggle with reading along with students who love to read for enjoyment. With all of the social media apps, video games, and television, students do not take time or have time in their day to sit down in a comfortable chair and read.
Reading books give students and adults an opportunity to forget what is going on around us right now and adventure into stories from the past and stories that my grandparents, parents, you, and I read.
With the books on my list, I would like to share stories of WW1, WW2, and what life was like in the Nazi camps through the eyes of a child. As well, I would like to give my students the opportunity to relate to a character who has lost both parents, take an adventure to several unknown islands, and hear a story through a dog's perspective.
These books being placed on my classroom shelves will allow students who love to read a chance to open their eyes to books they may have never read, along with allowing students who find reading "boring" the chance to find a book they have never read before and fall in love with reading.
