This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My instrumental program has flourished and floundered over the years. When I started instrumental music 10 years ago in my PreK-8 school, I had almost 60 students sign up for clarinet, drum, flute, trumpet and violin. Drum and violin were (and still are) the most popular instruments. Over time, drum and violin have remained steady, but the others have faded away to the one flute player I have left this year. As with most programs, COVID decimated my program for almost 2 years until we could get back up and running again.
I have an amazing group of violin and drum students, and the items I can never keep in stock are rosin and music folders.
The much needed rosin will help my violin students continue to perform successfully. The folders will give my students a safe place to keep their concert music while they practice for multiple concerts every year.
