Reliable Classroom Technology for Indy's Needy Kids

Help me give my students the technology they need to customize their education and advance their career readiness. Using a laptop at school will help provide these students with technology proficiency opportunities they do not have at home.

My Students

My students are diverse, curious, and energetic fifth graders. They live in urban Indianapolis and attend a newly renovated, beautiful, historic, school. Very few of my students have access to technology and internet at home.

Our school is a high poverty, historically challenged, "transformation zone" school, which seeks to grow every scholar in 2018-2019 and create an atmosphere in which ALL children thrive.

My class spans from well below grade level to well above grade level in reading. I have several students who are diligent English Language Learners, several who have special needs related to reading and writing, a cognitively impaired student, and several who are gifted in language arts. In math, many of my students are nearly two years behind while others are at or above grade level.

My students need help to regulate their emotions and behaviors. I want to provide a calm and peaceful learning community for them so that each of them can achieve their own potential.

My Project

These four Chromebooks will allow my scholars to access differentiated content to meet individual needs in a diverse classroom. They will be used across the curriculum as an addition to classroom instruction, real living books, and hands-on learning. The scholars in my class will access Zearn, ReadTheory, and Typetastic on these devices. My struggling writers will use voice to text to help them compose their essays.

Both high achieving and struggling students can hone their skills through self paced learning.

Our school devices have become unreliable. Help build the future of Indy by investing in the fifth graders of today.
