Help me give my students some variety of gross motor activities. These items will help my students have the ability to do obstacle courses, follow directions, get their wiggles out and be active during our rainy day recesses.

My Students

I teach an intensive special education class, and all of my students are special in their own ways. The students in my class all have autism and have difficulty communicating. Most of my class uses talk devices or communication systems.

Even with their varying abilities, all my students strive to be the best learner they can be.

Each student learns at their own pace and has their own learning style. As their teacher, I strive to teach to each one of their learning styles and be the best teacher I can be!

My Project

The trampoline, scooter boards, hopscotch mat, tunnel, hula hoops, and balance beams will help my students with getting their wiggles out several times throughout a day. My students need to work on jumping and balancing as well as throwing, catching and figuring out new ways to move with scooter board.

These gross motor items will help my students when they get to school after a long bus ride by allowing them to run through an obstacle course and get their wiggles out and allow them to focus more with their work.

We will also be using the items during rainy day recesses and during OT time to focus on gross motor movements and following directions.

When I set up an obstacle course, my students will also be practicing standing in line, following directions, imitating and playing with their peers with different stations.
