This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom library is a place where my students really enjoy settling into a good book before we get started with class through the day. To begin, these inflatable bean bags will provide a comfortable space where my students, in the morning as well as their free time, will be able to settle into a good book without having to take breaks to get up and stretch their backs.
As a Special Education English teacher, my goal is to provide a safe space where my students feel encouraged to read.Second, the handprint rug will be able to provide a second level of comfortablilty as our floors are tile.
This rug will be able to keep the students warm and engaged in their books without students having to move around to find a comfortable position. This would also open up my library to seat more people other than just two on the bean bag.
Finally I have many autistic students in my class who need stimulation while reading. The legos would provide an activity for any student who might be overstimulated and keep them focused while they read.
