Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are filled with lots of energy and ready to learn each day. They come from all backgrounds and attend a small public school in the San Fernando valley.
They have a love for learning new things every day.
They enjoy being able to choose and read books on a daily basis in our classroom library. We have a small corner of the room with a rug, pillows, and stuffed animals where they can read a book during independent time. Most of the students enjoy a relaxing and quiet place to read.
My Project
Having a comfortable place to read in the classroom will let my students be able to read books in a relaxing way. The couch and seats will be more comfortable for them to sit in rather than my current library pillows.
They can also practice their reading fluency skills with each other either in pairs or small group in the library area.
My aide can also have a small group in the library area and help them with their reading skills rather than being on the outside bench (no shade). This couch and seat will also be ideal for students who just need a quiet area for behavior issues.
