This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 2nd grade students from a low socio-economic area. They have varied backgrounds and capabilities. These students love to read and work on a variety of projects and activities.
My awesome students are determined and enthusiastic about incorporating the STEAM program into our classroom.
STEAM is an integrated approach to learning. It integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. They will be learning how to use Ipads through a blended classroom setting. I teach Gifted and Talented, Bilingual, and Special Needs children.
My Project
I would like to incorporate flexible seating to allow for coziness yet free flowing seating, enabling a learning environment suited for different learning styles. I would like to have the children sit on the Flex Space balance ball or the comfy Bean bag while reading will be an asset to our classroom environment, allowing the children to relax and read more. The wobble chairs would help the ADHD students focus while working on classroom activities as well as assist in releasing extra energy while they sit.
I teach Gifted and Talented, Bilingual, and some Special Needs students.
The students have different learning styles and will benefit from flexible seating. I feel students with ADHD can use the different seating to calm themselves as they read or complete an assignment. The other students can relax and enjoy working on a variety of activities as the complete a given task.
