Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students are overwhelmed by the school cafeteria and find their way into my classroom during their lunch period. Some even make their way to my room during free periods.
While I've worked hard to curate a classroom library, novels and plays aren't what most teens are looking to read to relax their minds.
Students have voiced they'd like a wider manga selection in the classroom for quick reads. Having multiple series in the class will ensure that students who fly through manga books can keep busy.
The games I requested will provide some variety for the students who like to play games with one another during their downtime. There are some kiddos who prefer to sit alone, and rather than have them just sit silently on their own until their next class, the solo games and activities I've requested will allow them to unwind on their own.
I do my best to make sure students feel comfortable and safe within my classroom walls; I've succeed thus far. The games, books, and ambient lighting I'm requesting are to help enhance their space of safety and comfort. My goal is for students to have a space to exhale in the midst of their hectic high school days; Short and engaging reads, calm lighting, and wholesome games are tools that will aid in accomplishing this.
