Help me give my students postcards to feel like we are still together.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am excited to start the new school year with my new 5th grade through 8th-grade classes. However, since I am new to the school, that means I am starting new with resources. The pandemic has created an environment where learning will be fully virtual this year. I have to get creative introducing myself and building relationships with the 400 students in the school community. All of my young scholars are considered low-income and qualify for free and reduced lunch. The pandemic has not made this challenge easier. But, as we all know, children are resilient!
My Project
Learning at home, away from all social supports can be stressful on the academic and social development of students. The engagement in school declines. I want to give students something to look forward to, when they receive a physical reminder in the form of postcards with reminders, encouragement, thank you wishes, and other reminders that they are safe and loved.
I will mail postcards to students as incentives for attending live sessions with teachers or to those that have been identified as being hit particularly hard by the pandemic this year.
