Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These books and supplies have been chosen with my students needs, backgrounds, and experiences in mind. Using literature circles and/or book talks, my intention is to create a more culturally rich environment where students can read, write, and discuss with others these books.
A good book can help students relate to their culture and enable them to validate their own experiences and empowering them to share these experiences with others.
Providing a culturally diverse reading environment will also enable my students to gain a better understanding of their culture and the cultures of others. Additionally they will develop social skills through these discussions. Subsequently helping them develop empathy and a better understanding of the world around them.
