Our students are truly gifted learners that take on every challenge placed before them...and, they conquer it well. Our students embrace our school's creativity standards every day as they think deeply, collaborate to solve problems and refine their craft as learners.
Being from a school focused on the whole child, we aim to teach and inspire students to discover their passions and give them opportunities to thrive as learners.
Our maker spaces, open and engaging environments, and passionate teachers make students thirsty for more and more!
My Project
These literature books will be used to create conversations around topics where students need to learn how to use technology effectively and safely. My students from kindergarten to sixth grade will be engaged in stories that will be used to open and engage conversations about internet safety, digital citizenship, uses for technology, etc. For examples, I have requested several books such as "It's Okay to Make Mistakes," "What Do You Do With a Problem?," and "The Most Magnificent Thing" to engage in conversations about making mistakes and how to move forward. So often students become frustrated with technology and they tend to give up. Many of these books will be used to teach and encourage the concept of troubleshooting effectively.
As a springboard for open dialogue, these literature books will be a valuable resource for my technology classroom and the over 700 students that visit on a regular basis.
They will make a huge impact on my students' learning as they bring these lessons learned back to their classrooms for use of all available technology. Concepts that will permeate all classrooms on campus are those of unleashing creativity and becoming a digital citizen. Books such as "When Charlie McButton Lost Power" and "Dot" will be read out loud to discussed to bring students to a new place of being creative and doing it in a fun and safe way online.
