Regulation Through Learning

Help me give my students ways to tap into their social emotional learning and build ways to regulate emotions through books, games, sensory fidgets, headphones and a weighted stuffed animal

My Project

Books tell us so much about ourselves, who we want to be, how we want to be treated, and how we can treat others. I am hoping to increase my library to show my students more about themselves, how to regulate big emotions as well as how to navigate the world around them. In addition to books, games and sensory fidgets can also help students find their voice, give them possible directions to explore, and help them create community within their classroom.

Students need differentiated opportunities to put into action what they are discovering about themselves.

Whether it's reading a book, using tools to regulate big emotions, or playing games to build connections with others. All these new ways will help all students build skills designed to strengthen their social and emotional growth.

These resources are so much more than classroom materials. They give students a healthy way to cope with stress, manage their emotions, and develop the skills needed to work and play together successfully. For many children, school is not just a place for academics -- it is also a safe space where they can learn how to navigate challenges, build resilience, and feel supported.

With your support, my goal with this project is to build a stronger social emotional learning (SEL) library, provide opportunities to practice new skills through game play and finally have tools for emotional regulation, such a fidgets, a weighted stuffed animal, and noise cancelling headphones.
