Help me give my students a safe space to regulate their emotions so that their time spent in the classroom is optimal for learning.

My Project

As a school counselor, I am in need of a space for students who become over-stimulated, are on the spectrum, or struggle with anxiety to self-regulate. A light tube and a sensory light curtain are two light sources that would improve the effectiveness of this space. Regulation through alternative lighting should enable students to spend more time in the classroom instead of attempting to calm themselves in spaces not conducive to doing so.

Studies have shown that different types of lighting affect cognitive activation and self-control, which are both necessary conditions for learning.

I want to offer my students a safe, comfortable space in which to regulate their emotions. The goal is that students generalize these regulation skills for use in the classroom environment.
