My first-grade students have been impacted by Covid in many ways. Many of them were not able to socialize in those formative years before they hit school. Because of this, they lack the understanding of how to treat others and how to regulate their emotions and calm down their bodies. The books that I have chosen help to explain how we treat others, how we have control over our own bodies and minds, and how we treat supplies. These books are creative ways to teach students important lessons that are needed in order to help them to better treat others and supplies. The other items that I have chosen are to help students to learn to regulate their bodies. There are flexible seating items that will allow the students to be at their desks and do their work while also making sure that they have a way to get all of their wiggles out. Because of Covid students have not had the opportunity to be in large classroom settings such as daycare and prek that help to teach them how to sit down and focus so these items will help my students to be able to sit down and wiggle without disturbing the rest of the rest of the class.
