My Project
I work in a self contained classroom with 9 incredibly wonderful and unique learners. Their needs are very different than a typically developing kiddo their age, in order for them to be successful in school they need to first have their sensory needs met. Giving them access to sensory tools and differentiated seating makes all the difference in getting them to learn new skills and expand their abilities. Sensory tools are in high demand in my classroom, each kiddo has their own specific needs and what is best for them. Some need to scratch fabrics up and down, walk barefoot in different materials or crash their bodies and heads into things. Safely doing those things can be difficult in a classroom and these items will help my students with ASD get what they need in order to be calm, safe and successful.
