My Project

The items selected in my DonorsChoose cart are integral to an engaged and successful classroom. As the school guidance counselor, students utilize my office as a safe space when they may be overwhelmed and seeking external output to regulate and calm themselves. The sensory items assist in doing just that.

The coloring books serve as a way to relieve stress, relax, and calm the brain during moments of high stress.

Coloring books also promote mindfulness which aids in allowing the students to shut off any external stressors, and focus on the movements, sensations, and emotions in the present moment.

As the school counselor, I play an important role in the lives of students. With the success of my previous project, Calming Corner, I decided to create this project to continue to contribute to the needs of my students.
