My Students

A typical day in my classroom involves a rich curriculum incorporated with purposeful movement. Jean Blaydes says, "Physical activity grows brain cells, and that cerebellum research tells us, "What makes us move, makes us think."

My school is at a high poverty rate.

Many of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Ruby Payne states, "Almost all children of poverty rely on kinesthetic strengths for learning." Many of the students lack the resources at home that they need to be successful. They need encouragement from the school to show them that learning can be enjoyable.

My Project

Students need to be able to sharpen their pencils in an efficient manner. Electric pencil sharpeners get them excited about learning. Midyear, these supplies start to wear out or run out, and they need to be replenished. A new pencil sharpener would help our classroom engagement tremendously.

These school supplies enhance the learning of the students.

With the donations for electronic sharpeners, we can reduce the sharpening time and apply that to meaningful instructional time. Sharpened pencils excite our learners and encourage students to dive into the task at hand. Having a sharpened pencil will give students the tools they need to be successful in their learning, increase productivity, and encourage students to do their best work. Thank you for helping our sharp thinkers have sharp pencils!
