it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hello, I work and teach in an Exceptional Child Services (ECS) classroom comprised of students who have severe to profound disability. The class is a self-contained alternate assessment classroom for children with severe to profound disabilities. All students this year are in grades 6 and 8. There are two eighth graders and six sixth graders. There is one student with autism, three students that are multi-handicapped and four students that are developmentally delayed. All students in the class have a moderate to severe learning disability. Some of the students in my class are non-verbal.
The main curriculum utilized in the class in the Unique Learning Curriculum.
However, all the students benefit from learning life-skills, tasks that will support them once they graduate and move on to secondary education. I am starting a Donor's choose account to help me purchase things that are not available in my school to support life skill learning.
My Project
I am asking for a Refrigerator for my self-contained Special Education Exceptional Child Services Classroom. The students in the class are in the room for the entire day and I am in need of some appliances to assist them with their daily living skills. Currently, I have a microwave and a kitchen table but am lacking a Refrigerator. I believe that having a Refrigerator will enhance the experience and assist us with storing much of the food that is brought in by their parents right in the classroom.
In addition to using the Refrigerator for food storage, I also think it will help the students in use for their daily living skills and in gaining independence.
The students need to know how the Refrigerator works and can help keep inventory, cleaning it and using daily for various needs (like keeping water and ice cubes in the freezer). Many of my students in the class are learning life skills and I believe having the Refrigerator in the classroom will cut down on many distractions and will enhance the culture in the classroom. Thank you in advance and please consider donating to this project, thank you so much.
