My Project

The supplies requested will help me facilitate social-emotional learning goals with my students. The magazine, "Choices", includes readings and reflective activities that promote responsible decision making, self-management, cultivating empathy and tolerance, boosting self-awareness, bully prevention, motivating goal-setting, fostering healthy relationships, addressing digital citizenship, and encouraging communication among students. My students will use the magazine as a tool to reflect on how far they have come since March 2020.

The additional supplies (notecards, scissors, pencils, markers & timers) will be used to create check-ins, goal setting, and communication tools for my students.

After returning to an in-person classroom setting, I have found my students are struggling with all of the above-listed competencies in teens. My students also arrive at class without the necessary supplies like pencils to complete everyday work. Providing writing utensils is a necessary tool for my student's learning. These supplies will help us address the challenges and reflect on how far we've come as students in a pandemic. Our school practices mindfulness into our structured class time. The sand timers will allow me to create visual, but silent timers for our mindful minutes. The timers with sound effects will help my students continue to build classroom routines (mindful minutes, check-ins, & goal setting) to support my student's social emotional growth, and challenges at school. In all, these supplies will help me and my students build resilience in by reflecting how far we've come since returning to school during a pandemic.
