This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What makes our students special is their strength, creativity, and eagerness to learn despite the challenges many of them face. Our K–8 after-school program serves students experiencing housing instability, and yet they come to program each day ready to participate, connect, and grow. Their resilience inspires us, and we are committed to providing an environment where they feel valued, supported, and equipped to succeed.

This project aims to provide each student with a reusable water bottle to promote healthy hydration and reduce the use of disposable plastics.

Staying hydrated is essential for focus, energy, and overall wellness especially during the afternoon hours when students are completing homework, participating in enrichment, and engaging in physical activity. A personal water bottle helps build responsibility and ownership while also supporting learning by keeping their minds and bodies refreshed.

Our goal is to create a more sustainable, student centered environment where every resource contributes to their development. Something as simple as a water bottle can make a big impact: it’s a tool for learning, a lesson in environmental care, and a daily reminder that someone is investing in their success.
