This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My music students cover all four high school grades and encompass a wide range of ability levels, from beginners with little to no experience to seniors who have been in band since elementary school! The school is in an area of mixed socio-economic backgrounds.

My students show their love of music with their passion everyday.

They constantly amaze me with their sense of wonder and desire to perform at a high level.

The pep band is very popular at our football games with the crowd and our jazz band often performs for public and private events.

My Project

Good reeds for clarinets and saxophones are essential to student success. They can, however, be difficult for some families to purchase throughout the year. For beginning students it is essential reeds are provided so they know what to purchase in the future. In the beginning of the year it is essential to provide students with quality reeds to give the students a chance to sound their best.

These reeds will help ensure a successful start of the year for the woodwind players in the band.

For my low-income students and students with transportation difficulties this classroom supply will help ensure equal access to quality materials. Most reeds are meant to last only a few weeks. Much like pencils and binder paper they must constantly be re-supplied to keep the student sounding their best.
