This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school has not had a music program in a few years, for most of my students this is their first time taking music. Despite this many students have risen to the challenge of helping build the music program.
On a daily bases, I am continually amazed at the amount of dedication and passion my students show for their music classes.
Music has brought a sense of belonging and fellowship to the students at my school. As the program begins to grow I hope to engage more of the student population in any ways I can.
My Project
After a successful first year of rebuilding the music program at my school, we are heading into our second year full swing. However we still face the same issues of space and lack of materials. Again despite all of our challenges my students and I have worked tirelessly to get the necessary equipment.
With the limited budget I was given at the start of the year, I have only been able to purchase the bare minimum materials needed for my classes.
Even with my best effort to conserve reeds, accidents do happen and our supply is beginning to run low. With several performances and rehearsals left, my students will be using these reeds for their various instruments daily to further their appreciation for music.
