Reduce Testing Distractions, Increase Testing Performance!

Help me give my students a testing environment where they can focus on doing their best! The noise reducing ear muffs provide them with a quiet environment and the privacy partitions and dividers reduce their visual distractions.

My Students

My students are energetic and excited to learn. My third graders thrive in a structured environments. They live in a community on the west side of Chicago. It is a beautiful and strong community, but lacking resources.

When they come to school, my students have many needs that need to be met, and we work to meet them, but reading is always our focus!

Despite my students' wide range of reading levels, they all still love to read and can't wait to explore our books in third grade this year.

My Project

Third grade is a very important year for students in our district. It is a benchmark grade, which means that grades and test scores are pertinent for students to pass on to fourth grade. The fear of repeating third grade is very real to my students (many of them have already repeated once or had a family member repeat) and testing season is very stressful for them. When I was in college, I struggled focusing on tests and found noise reducing headphones to be helpful.

I brought those headphones for a student who struggled focusing and she loved using them.

The other students take turns using them on our unit assessments. They are a hot commodity! When students have been wearing the headphones their focus has increased, distracting behaviors have decreased, and test scores have overall increased. I am seeking a class set to provide the option of using headphones to all of my students.

I am also requesting privacy dividers to reduce visual distractions for students. I have a LOT of students in a small place and although I do my best to move desks apart, it would be helpful to have a physical divider between students as well. My students want to show me and our school what they know on their assessments more than anything! We would be very grateful if you helped us do so with these tools.
