My students need a laminating machine and pouches so we can make sure materials last a long time! Laminated sheets can also be used for activities with dry erase markers.
Just because it says it's "jam free" doesn't mean it is! Sadly, Larry the laminator decided he didn't like math and took it upon himself to melt and coil an activity sheet to the point of no return. Now we do not have a working laminator.
Our kindergarten students attend a Title I school in Washington, D.C.
There is never a dull moment with these inquisitive, energetic, good-humored scholars. They work hard every day learning to read, write, add, and get along with each other. Despite challenges they face outside of school they come in every day ready to meet the many expectations we have of kindergarteners. It's actually hard to put into words how awesome they are and how much we love them!
My Project
Wow, have we missed having our laminator! We use laminated worksheets that students complete with dry erase markers. We love to take pictures of our kids and laminate them for display. Our curriculum uses a lot of mediator cards which help students remember activity steps - if we could laminate them they could be reused year after year. Students work in literacy centers daily and we use so much paper (i.e. for handwriting practice) that could be decreased through laminating.
As a first year teacher I am trying to make sure my current and future students have everything they need to be successful.
Our paper supply is certainly not endless - please help us to reduce, reuse, laminate!
