My Students
I am a physical education teacher at college prep middle school, whose mission is to prepare students with the academic skills and character traits necessary to thrive in college and in life. My class allows scholars the opportunity to engage in physical activities so that they can return to the academic setting refreshed and ready to focus. During class, my students are able to acquire new skills, try new sports, and discover that physical activity is fun. I have the privilege of educating over 400, 5th-8th grade scholars who come from educationally under-served communities in and around St. Louis, Missouri. My students love to be active and deserve access to a high-quality physical education experience.
My Project
We are always looking for fun and exciting new ways to help develop our students' motor skills. Giving our students the opportunity to use different items other than the traditional ball to help develop these skills, keeps our students excited and more engaged in our PE program. Our students are always eager to try new and exciting activities that challenge their skills in both fitness and education.
Having the washer sets, bag toss sets and shuffle board sets will help develop our students' motor skills while allowing them the opportunity to learn fun and competitive games.
I have observed drastic improvement in the excitement and participation level whenever our students are introduced to activities and games they have never played before. I know that adding these recreational games to our program will help keep our students excited while helping them to develop both mentally and physically.
