Help me give my students the medical support and the athletic support they need! The purpose of all the medical stuff is because they often can't afford the things that protect them from injury!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that are represented in this project come from the South Bronx. For those who may not be familiar with this area of New York City, it is in the poorest borough of NYC, and the one with the highest incidence of gang violence and STD's. Very few students are able to have a stable home life, two parents, or much of a positive outlook after high school. Things can seem very dark outside of school. That is where basketball comes in.
It is important for women of color to have the same opportunities as those who have been given opportunities that Bronx society simply doesn't have access to.
They are fighting both preferential treatment of Men's teams and the financial side of things. I am very fortunate to have the girls on my basketball team that I do. They are strong, independent, and smart. They love to work hard. This has led them to really become close, and it shows on the court. I simply want them to have the opportunities they deserve, and to show that hard work pays off!
My Project
This donation will make a difference for the team, because throughout the season, student-athletes face a lot of different injuries. As a Bronx school, we don't have the resources, nor the access to athletic trainers to make sure that these injuries are properly addressed.
The systematic inequalities that these ladies face simply because of where they live should be rectified.
This is one small way that they can enjoy the same access to the resources than Manhattan schools, and other schools outside the city have access to. As a low-income population, it is already difficult to pay for bills. They should not have improper injury prevention and recovery simply because of financial issues.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
