My Project
Hi everyone,
I teach students in Lewiston Maine, and our community was just devastated by the latest mass shooting.
As a classroom and as a nation, we are experiencing this event collectively, and are each affected in a number of ways. We won't all react the same way to this type of event, and I'm sure many of my students are experiencing a rollercoaster of emotion, as I am. I am encouraging my students and their families to be kind to themselves during this difficult time and I'm working to ensure they all have the support they need, whatever that looks like for their families. I'm looking to support my students in the classroom when we are together again, and am hoping to build our classroom resources around coping with anxiety and trauma. I'm hoping to buy some different sensory fidget toys, some weighted stuffed animals, some seat cushions, a bean bag chair, and some SEL resources for us to use as a community.
