This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Whenever I ask someone about their elementary music experience, they always tell me about their wonderful experience with playing the recorder! I am now passionate on giving my music students that same unforgettable experience.
I teach music at a low-income elementary school where all students receive free lunch and none of my students can afford to buy instruments.
There was a recent vote in our district to cut spending for the arts by 50% next year and possibly by 100% the following year. Luckily, I am at a charter school that supports the arts but we depend on donors like you and other supporters to help with our music program. For many students, this music program is why they come to school.
My Project
These simple plastic recorders will bring so much joy into my students’ lives and educational journey. Not only are they creating and valuing the arts at a deeper level, but their brains are greatly benefiting from this exposure of basic instrument playing. Their attention level will be strengthened during music notation reading, which in turn will assist them with their learning in their general education class.
By choosing to support this proposal you are choosing to let music educate our youth and keep them passionate about learning.
You are choosing to increase our high school graduation rates by giving them another reason to attend. You are choosing success for my students, our school, and our country! Thank you!
