This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My calm corner is a highly utilized space in my room for an array of emotions. Children seek this space to take a break and get ready to come back to the rest of the class. With this project, I am looking to make this space more useful in creating a SEL driven environment. With tools in my wishlist, I will be able to create full group and small group lessons on recognizing emotions and exploring ways to regulate them.

Then with the materials for our calm down space, students will be able to use what they have learned to help regulate themselves when their emotions feel out of control.

My students have various needs emotionally and it is difficult for me to be able to tackle them all one by one when they present themselves. With these materials I will be able to start the year off strong with multiple whole group lessons so that I properly plan interventions when needed.
