Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Children are learning and growing throughout their entire lives, but this growth is especially noticeable in Kindergarten. The little learners in my class are transitioning from being at home where naps and snacks were easily accessible. It is amazing to see how much students grow physically, emotionally, and academically by the end of the year.
However, when students are hungry they are unable to focus on learning, and in some cases are no longer able to manage their behavior or emotions.
This past school year I made a snack cart available to my students as they transitioned to recess and provided a second snack for them at the end of the school day. This small change made a world of difference for my students and I want to continue this practice this upcoming school year. Your generosity will provide snacks for students who are coming from low-income families. It will also provide my students with a few toys to take out with them during outdoor play to help organize their play and minimize student injuries.
