Recess Revamp

My students need turf to play in to reduce injuries. The need each grade to have their own set of playground toys to play with. We also need shade.

My Students

I am writing on behalf of my entire elementary school. Lake City Elementary School services grades Pre-K through 5th. We are a Title 1 school. Our community is a struggling former coal mining town.

Our students deserve the best and we want to give them a nice playground to get rid of some of their extra energy so they can focus more on their school work.

Our school is in need to have our playgrounds completely redone. This is going to take a lot of money along with a lot of different partners stepping in to help.

My Project

We are asking for these items.

VViViD Artificial Grass Synthetic Weatherproof Vinyl Turf Mat Roll (12ft x 40" (39.9sq/ft)) (20 rolls) These will help students be able to play in the grass again.

Sportime Recess Equipment Pack, Red, (4) This equipment back will ensure the students have extra equipment to play with during recess.

Lifetime Geometric Dome Climber Play Center, Earthtone (2) These will be a great asset by offering students a new place to climb.

Shade&Beyond 16' x 16' x 16' Sand Color Triangle Sun Shade Sail for Patio UV Block for Outdoor Facility and Activities (4) These will offer shade to a playground with no trees.

Student will be able to enjoy their play time again with their friends. Students will be proud of the way their playground looks and excited to have something brand new offered to them. There is only one other playground in town and it is very small. Our community uses this playground along with grades K-5. It has definitely seen better days. I have heard a lot of students complain about having nothing to do outside. I want to see our students excited to work hard to ensure they get recess that day. This will ensure happier students along with happier staff members.

Students will be able to finally play in grass again during recess. Our playground has turned into a dusty mess. On hot days students will be able to cool off under the shade provided.
