My Students
I teach in a highly diverse and transient school. This year all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have students with many different backgrounds, single parent homes, students in foster care, and students who have moved several times in their short lives.
I have been working at my building for 20 years and love to watch my students grow through the years.
Because school is often what they consider their safe space, I try my best to make the classroom a home for them.
My Project
My students work so hard during the day. The importance of recess is essential in my classroom and with the weather turning colder, indoor recess is now their break (and reward) for their hard earned effort. As the years pass some of our indoor recess toys are more well loved and played than others so sometimes pieces get broken, lost, or they are so well loved that there may not be enough to go around.
I'm asking for a refresh.
Some LEGO to build their creativity and share together. Expo markers for when they "play school." Some fidgets for the "fidget store" that they have created. Scented stickers, something they ask for on a daily basis and a bean bag game for a more active and kinesthetic math activity.
My students work hard to share the resources that we have, it would be amazing to gift them with more so that they would have a better opportunity to play together.
