it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a unique school whose mission is to bring Montessori education to students in an urban environment. We are a diverse classroom, which brings together students from the inner-city with students from the surrounding suburban towns. Our classroom is made up of 25 students in grades 4-6.
Our goal as a classroom is to treat each other as a family, and we use the Montessori philosophy as our backbone to do so.
We are a classroom that works together to create an inviting and comfortable space where all students can learn.
My Project
Recess is one of my students’ favorite times of the day. They love to play outside on the blacktop and enjoy indoor recess time as well. Cooperative play is essential for students to learn how to get along with each other and to work together as a community. Currently, we have only blacktop space available for outdoor recess, so I’m hoping to purchase outdoor play materials such as balls, jump ropes, and outdoor games for the children to play during recess.
As a Montessori school in New England, we need to find ways to play during indoor recess time as well as outdoor recess.
I am looking to purchase games and craft materials for my students to use during indoor recess. The busier students are, the more fun they have during recess!
