Help me give my students recess equipment! So much of what we learn about teamwork, compromise, work ethic and attitude comes from physical activity and more specifically team sports!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I have an amazing group of 24 fourth graders. My class is comprised of 16 boys, and 8 girls with a diverse range of needs. We are a Title I school, meaning at least 75% of our population lives at or below the poverty line. Ten of my 24 students are learning English.
Although the year has just begun, I am so impressed and inspired by their tenacity, work ethic, and kindness.
These children remind me that although we are often bombarded by negative news, our future is bright indeed.
My Project
Covid-19 has effected so many aspects of our children's lives, but perhaps their social skills more than any other. Giving them the opportunity to play team sports at recess will help them to strengthen many of the skills they have lost, or not had the opportunity to obtain. I am requesting basketballs, soccers balls and footballs.
The benefits of physical activity and team sports for youth are proven and numerous.
Team sports practice strengthen students' self-esteem, relationships, critical thinking skills, cooperation and compromise.
Please consider donating to our DonorsChoose to help us purchase much needed recess equipment! Thank you!
