This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.

I teach Pre-K.

I will serve approximately 19-24 students for the 2021-2022 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals.

When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.

Children make my classroom their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family.

My Project

This year PK is starting a new curriculum. During the program, children will receive packages or envelopes labeled “special delivery” that contain a message that PK teachers will prepared in advance.

Receiving this package or envelope will give children the opportunity to read an actual message and write a reply to the sender.

We will print the icons for the “Special Delivery” and use them to decorate a special envelope or box to use year-round for these Special Delivery messages.

We would like the mailboxes so we can put the envelopes for the children to remove, open, and read when instructed in the Small Group Literacy lessons.

The chalk and bubble will be used during recess.
