My Students

My students love making art, however with the lack of funding, we have been scavenging around to find art supplies. We love to sing and smile during art class. These kids are ready to explore new art materials. Please help expand their creative minds.

Our school is located in a poverty stricken area of Northeast Philadelphia.

When the students arrive to school, their moods are unpredictable. There is never a moment that a teacher is not comforting a child or handling a situation. Above all, we have to keep these students focused on following a vigorous curriculum, which is a challenge. When these kids come to art class, it is the only time they are able to express themselves.

My Project

I feel it is important to give them art supplies that are new and exciting. For instance, they have never tried the wonderful art of block printing or working with clay. I would love for them to learn about different materials, aside from they typical crayons, markers, and pencils. With the block printing paints, I want the students to create prints by etching into styrofoam plates. With the clay, I want them to make beads and mini sculptures. The rest of the art supplies I am asking for will help create many other art making opportunities for the students.

These art supplies will make a difference in my students' lives because they really do not have much.

I feel that if they are able to experiment with a variety of art materials, it will bring them much joy.
