This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been diagnosed with various forms of disabilities but their primary disability is Autism.
My students have extreme difficulties and deficits in the areas of language, social functioning and they exhibit repetitive behaviors, interests or activities and differences in sensory input and some have a restricted diet.
Although each of my students exhibits sensory input in their own unique way, through effective strategies their unique needs will be addressed to enable them to be able to learn. One of these strategies is through the implementation of sensory approach and activities.
My Project
I am requesting a TV with a TV wall mount, a DVD player, and a mini fridge. The use of these items will help build, independence and social skills. It will lay a strong foundation for their adolescence and adulthood to succeed in all aspects of their life.
The TV/DVD player and mini fridge will provide visualized and hands-on instructions that will provoke my students' interest and participation in learning.
The TV/DVD player will enable my students to watch and listen to news of current events, watch video clips of units taught during instructions and enable them to model appropriate behaviors. The mini fridge will be used to store and preserve food prepared by my students. The TV wall mount will provide safety of the TV display on the wall in the classroom.
