My Students
Our students are 73.1% economically disadvantaged on our campus and 79.3% in our district. It's been a rough start the first week due to Hurricane Harvey with getting supplies in. Most of my students are excited either way to get the opportunity to have a class that will give them a 1/2 high school credit in the 8th grade. Since our class is technology based, they can't wait to see what's in store after reading my syllabus. They had lots of questions and ready to learn. With all that has happened with the devastation in our area, the students have surprised me with their willingness to learn and eagerness to get started.
My Project
This school year we are focusing on being able to supply students with school supply items to replace what was lost during our devastation of Hurricane Harvey. The majority of my students are economically disadvantaged and can't afford to replace items on their school supply list due to rebuilding their homes and displaced with family members. Some are displaced and living in tents or shelters outside the city limits.
All supplies will be used as they create interactive notebooks, instructed through college career readiness resources, and during our Saturday School tutorials.
Most students have projects that require them to have use of a flash drive and copier paper to print in the computer lab.
