Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm seeking funding for the school soccer program to provide winter gloves, Gatorade protein bars and drinks, new uniforms, updated equipment, practice shirts, and training materials. The students on my teams are diligent and hardworking, many of them are 100% dedicated to the game and are looking for opportunities to play beyond high school.
Often, when we play teams from other schools, there is an obvious visual difference between the equipment and uniforms we are able to provide our students and those provided by other teams.
Having updated uniforms and equipment not only shows our students that we think that they are important and the sport that they care about is important, but it helps them feel confident as well. Confidence helps individual well-being, academic performance, and sports performance and helps students to see, reach, and exceed their potential.
Sports like soccer have an impact that reaches far beyond the field. Whether it's teaching leadership skills, how to take decisive action, confidence, teamwork, building community, time management, or drive - students who participate in sports are shown to frequently be better performers in our schools and our communities.
